San Antonio Flagstone & Natural Stone Sealing, Cleaning & Restoration Experts

Do you have stonework in the San Antonio area that needs some TLC? Stone needs to be maintained properly to keep it healthy. In the depths of the earth where it was harvested from, it was perfectly fine. But once it was mined from the earth and cut into its current shape, then placed by your pool or on your patio, it is very susceptible to damage. Some of the biggest contributors to stone spalling, staining, mold, mildew, and calcification are not just the natural elements. When you surround your pool with flagstone, slate, limestone, or sandstone, you are exposing it to harsh chemicals and/or salt water. This is fine, as long as you have taken the necessary steps to seal it before exposure.

What happens when you don’t seal outdoor stonework in San Antonio?

Flagstone Patio in San Antonio After Sealing

If you had a pool or stone patio installed and it wasn’t sealed, you’ve probably noticed some staining, discoloration, and perhaps even some mold growth. Sometimes even if you sealed the stone yourself, your stone will still become damaged. This is because the cheap hardware store varieties of stone sealant do more damage than good. At least half of our calls from homeowners with stone concerns are from people who had there stone sealed, but on the cheap. Many of them did it themselves, others bought the home and did not know what kind of sealant was used on the stone.

Let me tell you folks, there is a HUGE difference between professional grade stone sealants like the TSSPRO variety we sell, and those sold at big name home improvement stores. Removing cheap sealant is something we do on a regular basis. Cheap sealants harm the stone by not allowing it to breathe, and leave an unsightly haze on the surface. Also, it usually has spotty coverage, so the stone can become impregnated with water and thus sustain water damage. Although the San Antonio area is still somehow in a drought, we have consistent rainfall. This coupled with the cold winters and hot summers means that there is no constant temperature for the stone, which is what it was used to before it was mined.

Our team of professional San Antonio stone sealers will come to your home and discuss which product stone sealant would best suit your needs. Then we will do any cleaning necessary before applying the sealant. Our TSSPRO sealants are fast drying, and cure quickly. However, the temperature must be within certain parameters for it to cure properly, so please take note if you are scheduling in mid summer or mid winter.
